Sofía Sepúlveda Villalobos (born July 25, 2001) is a Chilean director, cinematographer, and researcher. During her film studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, she worked on various short films, notably as director of photography. Her work as director of photography in Futura Licenciada—part of the official Cinema Chile 2024 catalog—earned international recognition, being selected for the 2025 TRIBECA Festival and receiving an Honorable Mention at the 2025 Hollywood Shortfest.
In addition to her work in cinematography, Sofía has cultivated a parallel career in cultural and scientific outreach, drawing on her background in social sciences and her second profession as an archaeologist. She has participated in the development of innovative transdisciplinary projects, including her involvement in the New Media Lab at the 4th Edition of Cine Ñuble, where she contributed to an archaeological outreach initiative.
Her professional focus includes research, executive direction assistance, and project development, especially in serialized documentary formats that blend scientific dissemination with fiction. Driven by a passion for exploring what it means to be human, she is committed to creating thoughtful, cross-disciplinary projects that engage both intellect and emotion.
